DENVER— Pattie Parkhurst Jewelry is proud to announce Help with HeARTS, a Valentine’s Day-themed fundraiser that will support The Gathering Place, the only daytime drop-in center in metropolitan Denver that serves women, transgender individuals and their children, who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.

The Gathering Place has been a stable force in the Denver community since 1986, growing from a one-room operation to a 30,000 square foot building with a variety of programs and services. COVID-19 is a serious threat to people experiencing poverty and homelessness. Since March, The Gathering Place staff has been on the frontlines working with members in crisis who are in need of housing, food and job support.

“I believe that art feeds people’s spirits and I know that the wonderful folks at The Gathering Place have had art programs for their members,” says Pattie Parkhurst, jewelry designer. “Now with the pandemic I have never been more motivated to help organizations that are working tirelessly to help people with basic needs. The people associated with The Gathering Place have huge hearts which is why I felt the HeARTS that I create would be a perfect symbol for uplifting during these insane times.”

Twenty percent of proceeds from the fundraiser will support keeping The Gathering Place’s doors open through the duration of the pandemic so that the nonprofit can continue its mission of providing a community of safety and hope where positive relationships, choice, and essential resources transform lives. This includes hot meals, access to laundry and showers and other forms of support.

Available for purchase starting today and ready to go for Valentine’s Day, while supplies last, choose from three sizes that symbolize love, compassion and understanding. Each HeART pendant is lovingly handcrafted for approximately eight hours. The design is created by hammering a flat sheet of solid gold, or silver, hundreds of times over an antler-like shape, and forging the metal to create a beautiful, organic heart shape.

“Most of the funding that keeps The Gathering Place’s doors open comes from individuals and community partners, including small businesses,” says Kelly Tobin, Business Relations Manager at The Gathering Place. “It is so exciting to work with a passionate individual who is taking her craft and using it to make Denver a more safe and vibrant place for those in need. The pandemic has made everyone examine inequality in a different way, and we are proud to collaborate with a small business owner to further our mission.”
